Vapaa Design is a small design studio based in Belgrade, Serbia, founded in 2023. We handle every aspect of the book — covers, illustrations, typesetting, typography and prepress. We approach each book as a whole where every element earns its place, including the empty ones: margins and white space set the rhythm of reading and give the eye room to breathe. We also guide clients through paper selection, print methods and finishing — because a reader experiences a book as much through touch, look and feel as through the words inside.
The studio is led by Milica Stanković, with over a decade of experience in graphic and book design. She spent years as lead designer at one of Serbia's largest publishing houses, working across genres and formats of every kind. Since founding the studio, she has been working with clients around the world. Her illustrations are hand-drawn, and she brings the same care to every project — be it a novel, a volume of poetry or a children's picture book. Alongside client work, the studio develops its own products for children and collaborates closely with professionals across design, illustration and publishing.
A well-designed book doesn't announce itself. It simply feels right.
